Using the bollow plane I made in the joinery course, and a couple of other bollow planes, I scalloped out the blade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/image-35.png?fit=720%2C960\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-677\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With the spar gauge I had also made in the joinery course, I marked out and then planed the corners of the loom (shaft of the oar), Turing it from a four-sided piece of wood to an eight sided piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/image-36.png?fit=720%2C539\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-678\"\/><figcaption>Making fine shavings again &#8211; lovely!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, I used a spokeshave to shape the back of the blade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/image-37.png?fit=720%2C956\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-679\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At close of play, I had started the process of melding blade to loom.  This is going to be a tricky bit of sculpture.
