{"id":56,"date":"2018-09-10T12:13:39","date_gmt":"2018-09-10T12:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/?p=56"},"modified":"2018-09-10T12:13:39","modified_gmt":"2018-09-10T12:13:39","slug":"coincidence-or-synchronicity-following-on-from-three-threads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/?p=56","title":{"rendered":"Coincidence or Synchronicity?\u00a0\u00a0 (Following on from \u201cThree Threads\u201d)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes there is a turn of events that grabs our attention, causes us to stop and think: \u201cWow \u2026 what a coincidence.\u201d\u00a0 We can all recount examples \u2013 and we usually vie with each other to give the most remarkable!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I experienced this very feeling when, on the eve of the IBTC\u2019s Open Day, I let that anthology of poetry, fall open at a random page, only to find Judy Brown\u2019s poem \u201cWooden Boats.\u201d\u00a0 It gave me a feeling of assurance, affirmation \u2026 that this venture was \u201dright.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Having taken the decision to resign my Partnership, quit mainstream General Practice &#8211; if not primary care altogether \u2013 and to train to become a boatbuilder, I thought I would write a Blog about it all.\u00a0In particular, I felt a compulsion to share the coincidence of reading \u201cWooden Boats\u201d that evening.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Recognising the need to seek an author\u2019s permission to use their work, so as not to breach their copywrite, I sent Judy Brown a request to add a hyperlink to her website (judysorumbrown.com) or to quote her poem in my blog.\u00a0 Judy kindly replied, giving me permission to do either.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In her email Judy replied: <em>\u201c<\/em><em>I was delighted to get your note, to know a bit about this season of transition that is opening for you. \u00a0And to understand why &#8220;Wooden Boats&#8221; seemed to represent a confirming synchronicity. \u00a0 Deepak Chopra in an early book said that such synchronicity is an indication that we are on\u00a0path, and that we are seeing the underlying web of connections in life\u2014connections that we are often too busy to notice.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know about you, whether you hold to fate, destiny, pre-ordination or have a faith in divine intervention.\u00a0 Judy refers to these events as \u201csynchronicity,\u201d and I do like the idea that we can be so tied up in what we are doing that we do not see the links to things around us.\u00a0 Certainly, my work, and the very pressure of work within the Practice, subsumed my thoughts, my energy \u2026 my life.\u00a0 How could I have seen any other links or perceived any other threads?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Coincidence or synchronicity, chance or fate, happenstance or destiny, random events or divine plan \u2026 I don\u2019t know, but it\u2019s food for thought for sure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes there is a turn of events that grabs our attention, causes us to stop and think: \u201cWow \u2026 what a coincidence.\u201d\u00a0 We can all recount examples \u2013 and we usually vie with each other to give the most remarkable! &nbsp; I experienced this very feeling when, on the eve of the IBTC\u2019s Open Day,&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/56"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=56"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/56\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=56"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=56"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=56"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
