{"id":1559,"date":"2022-07-01T13:43:55","date_gmt":"2022-07-01T13:43:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/?p=1559"},"modified":"2022-07-01T13:43:55","modified_gmt":"2022-07-01T13:43:55","slug":"all-lined-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/?p=1559","title":{"rendered":"All Lined Out"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Using the paper tape method, the marks for the top of the planks on each mould were transferred from port to starboard &#8211; an amazingly simple and accurate method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The battens were then fixed to the starboard side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to get the planking positions at the stem symmetrical\/level, the &#8216;Two Pencil Trick&#8217; was used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/IMG_5935-768x1024.jpeg?resize=720%2C960\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><figcaption>Just as one can easily spot a painting that is not level when walking into a room, sighting the top of each set of planks with opposing pencils (and a willing helper) is a very accurate way to ensure they are level.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, I spotted a lack of fairness at the rear section of a few battens, so these had to be adjusted on the first dose and the adjustments transferred across.
