I will need them for the boat building, and possibly the renewal of Buccaneer&#8217;s centre plate pivot pin.  So, I bought some PAR (Planed All Round) softwood to make a couple of pairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, after a couple of days&#8217; work, I only needed to cut the legs to the lines I had marked last evening in order to get them all level and flat to the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-7-768x1024.png?resize=720%2C960\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1239\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><figcaption>They&#8217;re getting a bit awkward to work on now!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-8-770x1024.png?resize=720%2C958\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1240\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><figcaption>Aiming for an accurate cut &#8211; means less planing afterwards.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-9-770x1024.png?resize=720%2C958\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1241\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><figcaption>Just a small chamfer at each edge to prevent the ends splitting.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The design is traditional &#8211; they&#8217;re very similar to the ones my Dad had.  No doubt, he had made them, and I have fond memories of he and I using them.  They become a little rickety after fifty years or more use, and I seem to remember that they got thrown out after he died, when we were clearing the double garage, &#8230; and the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">three<\/span> sheds &#8230; and the greenhouse &#8230; and the additional metal garage in the garden!   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-10-768x1024.png?resize=720%2C960\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1242\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><figcaption>Very strong and sturdy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-11-768x1024.png?resize=720%2C960\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1243\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><figcaption>Hardly fine woodworking, but some interesting joinery here.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.talesfromtheboatshed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-12-768x1024.png?resize=720%2C960\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1244\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><figcaption>And there we are: a stack of saw horses.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I shall give them a protective coat of water-based varnish.
